Kay Jones > Not all witches are for Halloween! These are kitchen witches. The story says that kitchen witches were hung in the kitchens in German castles to scare away ills from bad food. If I lived here and had a house, I would collect kitchen witches. There is a theme restaurant called the Witch's Kitchen that decorates with them. I have never eaten there, but will when I have the chance to do so.
Kay Jones > This is a snapshot of part of the Friedberg Castle north of Frankfurt. Elvis Presley was stationed in the US Army at Ray Barracks in Friedberg. The top of the castle tower can be seen in the middle of this photo and the top of the entrance gate can be seen in the lower right. This was a moated castle but the moat is now dry.
Kay Jones > This is my favorite cafe in Germany with delicious cakes. I bought a "Mandelen Mandarinen Sahne Kuchen" tonight to share with the Schulze family. Yum. It was a tasty almond cream cake with mandarin oranges.
